The interview is an expanded version of Evgeniya A. Frolova’s narration about the current state of philosophical Islamic studies in Russia. It is based on a documentary directed for “Oral History” cycle (Ibn Sina Foundation). Evgeniya Antonovna reveals details of her scientific biography, shares thoughts about current problems of Oriental studies and the importance of cultural context for studying Eastern countries’ philosophy. This conversation, conducted by Andrey A. Lukashev, opens a new chapter of our journal, in which the memoirs of the classics of oriental studies about their life path, colleagues and interests will be published.
