Abstract

This article contains the materials of a large-scale project of the orientalist and linguist Janis Esots (1966 — 2021) — a dictionary of medieval Arabic-Muslim philosophical vocabulary. According to the author’s intention, the new encyclopedic dictionary, provided with examples of the original use of concepts in primary sources, should fill the gap formed in Russian science and brings the Russian-speaking reader the first “summa” of Islamic philosophers disputes of the 8th — 20th centuries. Therefore, the article considers logical, metaphysical and natural philosophical terms. These sketches made by J. Esots present the results of a comparative analysis of logical and ontological texts, and demonstrate the progress of the scientist’s work on the concept of the dictionary.
